1914 fall fair

last weekend the girls and i went back in time to 1914...

the local museum and heritage park was hosting a fall fair,
complete with carnival games, animal shows and wagon rides...

well, the horse guy didn't show up, and we missed the animal show,
but we got to play 2 rounds of the carnival games
and saw a little more of the village than we had seen before,
including a pig trying to make it's escape!

it was a fun afternoon, just me and the girls.

we just recently became members at this museum.
the passes can also be used at the bruce county museum in southampton
(where my parents live).
how perfect is that?!

olympic party - events

so last weekend was emery's olympic party.
it was so much fun!
did you see the post about snacks and decor?
i invited a friend who is getting into photography to join the fun.
she captured some incredible images that really tell the story

this bullseye earned ainsley a gold!
~
the events included hurdles, rope climbing, shot put,
archery (darts), hulu hoop and trampoline!
i had others planned, but the trampoline was a huge hit...
emery opened her gifts on the trampoline
and then we had some fun with the tissue paper!

this was a really fun party to host,
and i'm so thankful for the wonderful friends who came.
~
and christine,
thank you so much for the beautiful images you captured...

environmental photography

earlier this year, i was asked to try a new (to me) style of photography.
i took photos of an individual in their work place,
so they could capture memories of a favourite part of their career.
for this dentist, that is teaching.
this is called environmental photography:

it was amazing to observe and capture someone
who is so passionate and engaged in what they do
and is passing that on to the next generation.

olympic party - details

i had so much fun planning an olympic themed party
for emery's 7th birthday...
did you see the invitations?

we had great fun today - but you'll have to wait for those photos.
tonight, i will share some of the details that helped make the day so fun!
paper flags and paper plates are a fun way to bring more colour to the decor!
judah was so nice to build the cone stand for the torches.
on the table was a variety of olympic treats:
 golden oreo medals
 olympic ring cupcakes
(emery wasn't excited about these, but i wanted a back up
in case the torches below didn't turn out)
 cupcake torches
(complete with candy clay flames)
 the healthy olympic rings
(fruit in all the colours...)
~
these are the medals i created
using shrinky dink plastic sheets (love that stuff),
 a rainbow pack of sharpies,
and a roll of red ribbon!
they took some time - but i'm so happy with how they turned out!
each child also went home with some 'sporty' sunglasses,
a maple leaf water bottle, some smarties,
and a flag that they created...
we had fun today!
i hope to share more photos from the party soon,
and i'll go into more detail about
the olympic 'events' of the day.
~
have i mentioned how much i love planning parties for my girls?

selah's first day

 selah started senior kindergarten today...
she proudly carried her summer photo album
to school to show her teacher.
she was also excited to see her friends again, after a great summer.
she had a fun day at school,
and this momma enjoyed some quiet time.
it was a good day for all!

an amazing summer

the girls are asleep in their beds,
ready to start school again tomorrow.
crazy!

we were talking tonight about highlights of our summer.
we packed a lot in, and there are many great memories...
camping, day camps, day trips, play dates, swimming lessons,
southampton, museums, beaches and lots of ice cream!
it was fun and it went fast!

there is one more experience
that i want to share photos of from this summer.
friends of ours had passes to a trampoline gym
that they weren't going to be able to use.
they kindly offered to share them with us
(THANK YOU).
i took the girls there the other day, and the loved it!

definitely worth checking out...

what was a highlight from your summer?
