favourite things

welcome to favourite things friday!
it has been a great week round here.
most of you know i'm doing a photography workshop right now.
i'm loving it.
here's a photo taken for an assignment that was focused on viewpoint.
this was taken while selah was having a picnic with jude
on our new back porch.
i love that she decided to wear her rubber boots for the event!

i also had the pleasure of going on a 'mommy date'
with my friend ali this week,
check the links below to find out what we did!

so, since you can hardly wait - on to my favourite things:
  • i think this is amazing!

  • chocolate trail... this is for real and it involves a chocolate martini if you like!
  • honesty - good for the soul.
  • so many great resources for photographers out there - came across this one...
well - that's all for now...
i have one more lesson this week and
then i need to think through my assignment.

thanks to all the new folks who have stopped my this month!
hope to see you in october.

take some pictures this weekend,
hope you find something to smile about!

kinsley anne

introducing a delightful little girl named kinsley.
spending the morning with her last week was lovely.
she slept peacefully & her mommy was so relaxed...
(she's the 4th baby in this family).

it was amazing for me to have two newborn shoots
within days of each other.

leaves me wanting more...
newborn photo shoots, that is.

anyone having a baby soon?

[i'm linking up with here today]

simple things

i took the girls to the pumpkin farm yesterday...
it was lovely.
the perfect outing with friends, on a beautiful day!

wyatt phoenix

this sweet little guy is my nephew!
it was a pleasure to spend time with him so early in his life.
these photos were taken when he was 5 days old.

welcome wyatt phoenix.  you are loved.

it was fun finding things around wyatt's house to represent
both his mom and dad.
he has two incredible parents who balance each other perfectly!

i love this little family...

simple things

this was a fun and memorable week:
emery's birthday, a new cousin, and a wedding to attend!

a more simple thing happened that was also very special.
friends of ours gave emery a gift this week.

steph and aaron own a salon in town, and they tell me that
the new trend for hair, is feathers!
they generously gave emery one for her birthday.
on friday (before the wedding), the girls and i got to spend some time at the salon.
it was so fun watching the girls get pampered,
and emery loves her new feather:
i was very grateful (and a bit emotional) as i watched aaron
make the girls feel so special while doing their hair.
he even set aside a pink 'highlight' for selah
so she would have something new and exciting too.
 thanks to our kind friends,
my girls and i were all feeling pretty stylish for the wedding!

hope you all had a great weekend,
and took some time to reflect on the simple things in life that make you smile...

superstar style

this is me and my big girl,
ready for a superstar party for her sixth birthday!

this was the perfect day for emery...
it was a great time of 'pampering' and dress up with her closest friends!
hair, make-up, smelly lotions, tutus & cupcakes.
so. much. fun!

as you can see - they were treated like stars and had a fantastic time!

big thanks to all emery's friends,
for bringing your love and energy to the party,
and to VIP and SPA  for giving us an amazing afternoon!

happy birthday superstar!  love you so much...

simple things

here are two simple things that made me smile today:
making marshmallow pops for my birthday girl
(a treat to share with her classmates tomorrow)
emery brought home her grade 1 planner today - loving it!
i love the marshmallow pops idea!
i was thinking of doing cake pops, but used all the cake for her party on sunday...
then i saw this idea and knew it would be perfect!

i love the planner, because i'm a calendar and list girl!
emery and i spent about 20 min on the couch this evening
looking through it, filling things in and reading together.
it was nice.

i must say - i'm enjoying the both girls at school thing.
life feels calm and balanced again!

first day for selah

it's hard to believe my little bean is in junior kindergarten.
she was so calm this morning, no worries for this girl.
we got to school early, so had some time to wait for the bell to ring.
maybe a little nervous...
once the teachers said it was time to go in - there was no hesitations,
she grabbed the hand of a new friend and waved goodbye.
she may be one of the smallest in the class - but with her personality,
she won't go unnoticed!

selah bean,
i'll miss you while you're at school.
but i know you'll make many friends and learn so much.
i love you and i'm proud of you.
i can't wait to hear all about your first day!
