quiet time

you may have noticed that i've been taking a little quiet time from blogging.
not really intentional, i just have other things on my mind these days.
but i'll try to come around here a little more regularly again.
anybody miss me?

it so nice to have a long weekend...
we went to the toronto zoo on sunday,
stayed in a hotel that night and then visited with friends on monday.

here's a couple photos of selah and jude enjoying some quiet time at our hotel:

did you do anything special with your family this past weekend?

the rom

we went to the rom in march.
it was a highly anticipated event,
especially for selah - lover of dinosaurs.
it was so fun & memorable:
a mini vacation to see "real life dinosaur bones"
& we had a free hotel night at the intercontinental!

we left home midday on a friday.
got to the hotel, jumped on the beds for a bit and then we were off to the pool for an afternoon swim.
after an early dinner (selah didn't eat much because she was so excited),
we headed to the rom for half price night (you know i love a deal!)

first stop, dinosaur exhibit - amazing!
once we had explored that area - selah was done.
she had seen the dinosaurs and she was ready to go back to the hotel.
i guess we shouldn't have been surprised,
since that's all we had talked about there being at the museum.
we did talk her into exploring a little more...
we found some dinosaur toys in a children's play area - phew!
there was tons to see and do, we couldn't fit it all in.
once selah was really done, she and jude went down to the lobby
while emery and i explored a few more exhibits:
gems & gold, and egypt - to see the mummy.
favourite thing at the rom was
a tapestry made in africa out of bottle caps and paper clips.

after a good night's sleep in luxurious beds,
we met up with friends at the science centre on saturday.

packed a lot into 36 hours - it was such a great little family getaway.

thank you

today was a day to remember.
first of all i got to spend it with judah.  we had a night and day away in TO.
so nice to have some time, just the two of us.

second, it was my last day shooting with this camera:

let me tell you about this camera.
judah's grandad is a photographer.  we love to talk cameras when we're together!
one day we were doing just that when i mentioned i was hoping to get a dslr one day.
i was so surprised when he responded:
"oh, i have one of those sitting in a drawer, i never use it - do you want to borrow it?"
and my response was:
"yes please!"

i've had so much fun with this camera and am so thankful for grandad's generosity with it.

these are some photos i took today with it while in TO.

the reason it was my last day using this camera is because once again,
christmas has come early at our house!

i wasn't expecting this, but on the way home from TO jude suggested we stop in at henry's.
in my mind it was just to get an idea of what to consider in the future.
in jude's mind, we were buying me a camera for christmas!

thank you grandad for giving me the inspiration to start doing something with my love of photography.
thank you jude for encouraging me in this passion and enjoying the journey with me.
